Difference between Meteor and Comet

There are many objects in the universe can lead to very, very bad day on planet Earth, including large asteroid or comet. Most meteors barely rates "Ho-hum" on a scale from terrible events of extraterrestrial astronomer. There are some differences between comets and meteorites, the overall composition of its role in the universe.

Comet celestial body consisting mostly of dust and gas frozen space. Comets country is outside the universe, not related to the formation of the solar system as a whole. Comet mission, which could lead to a star like our Sun if the stars in orbit, some of its approaches melting ice core dust and debris free. This cycle can continue for millions of years.

"Speed Racer", on the other hand, does not follow the path around the sun is not even called a meteor, while floating in space - this is called a meteorite. Only when it enters Earth's atmosphere is considered as a real fireball.

When Earth crosses the comet's tail of debris, a meteor hit or jump to the first part of the atmosphere. Observers on the ground can not be happy in the last seconds of life as a meteor falls to the sky and burning. Unlike comets, meteors, do not return several years later.

Comet uses several million kilometers from Earth, Meteor and its definition of the first layer of the atmosphere of Earth to save. The arrival of a comet can be predicted with any degree of accuracy, but the atmosphere is a meteor to Earth at any time, day or night. The comet is rarely visible to the naked eye, but during a meteor shower is not uncommon to see tens or hundreds of meteors within a few hours.

The comet will have an official name for identification, such as Swift-Tuttle comet Hale-Bopp and Halley's comet. Several large asteroids may be the definition of names, but not meteor. Almost all meteorites cease to exist on entry into Earth's atmosphere. Several rare earth now, though. When a meteor comes in contact with the Earth's surface, known as a meteorite. While the comet can be cosmic dust, organic materials and ice, most meteorites contain metals such as iron and inorganic minerals such as quartz.
